Thank you to all those who helped at and attended
the County Commissioner Forum on Thursday. All three candidates, Ray
Vaughn, Stan Inman (i), and David Kelso, were there to present the
plans for Deer Creek if they were elected.
David Kelso stressed that if he was elected, he would work
with the other county officials and the school board to help Deer
Creek Grow in the future.
Stan Inman (i) reviewed all of the things that he had done
during his current term to help the Deer Creek area and how he would
in the future help the Deer Creek Area. Below is a quick summary
list of what Stan Inman reviewed:
- The many road projects already completed...see
road projects map
- Upcoming road projects...see
road projects map
- Completed work for Deer Creek school parking lots and roads.
- Continued focus on future school needs, working with the school
board with the growth and expansion of the school district.
- A new master plan for economic development for the District
3 area that would be unveiled in September.
- Already done and future acquisition of new equipment for the
fire department.
Work done to help build the current fire department building.
- Work with the Deer Creek Water Co-op to help and implement solutions
to supplying water to the Deer Creek community.
Ray Vaughn covered his plan for the Deer Creek area and
reviewed accomplishments as a State Representative.
- Helped Secure Funding for Road projects in Deer Creek.
- Would involve the Deer Creek community in regards to economic
development.
- Wanted to work with the community to develop the plan for Deer
Creeks future.
- Would have an open door style of government and would be there
for the community.
- Addressed the issue of Deer Creek incorporating and mentioned
some of the pros and cons if Deer Creek was to incorporate.
- Would assist the community with which ever direction the Deer
Creek community wanted to head in the future.
- Continue the projects that were already in place for the roads
and bridges.
- Bring back fiscal responsibility to county government.
We respect David Kelso for trying to make a difference in the community.
We wonder if the job of county commissioner would be more than he
could handle.
We think that during Stan Inman's term, he has overseen many projects
for the Deer Creek Community. We wonder if Stan could have done
more. Will he be more of a presence in Deer Creek? (We certainly
noticed his lack of presence when the tornado went through Deer
Creek several years ago and apparent noninvolvement in the Rte 74
expansion in relationship to the Deer Creek Community east/west
traffic patterns).
We think Ray Vaughn has done a lot during his political tenure
so far and like how he proposed to handle the Deer Creek future.
Will the many years of holding political office be a positive or
a negative? We are not sure but we do feel that his integrity will
breath some fresh air into the current group of county officials.
When you put Stan Inman and Ray Vaughn side by side, you will find
that they are both qualifications that mark them as capable of doing
the job of county commissioner. Both are very talented individuals
that have the qualities to lead the county. So how do you decide
between the two?
Since Deer Creek is unincorporated, we rely heavily on all the
elected officials to oversee our needs. We need the county officials
to work together so they can provide our community with the attention
that is necessary. With that said we need a commissioner who can
bring stability and cohesiveness back to the county. That is
why we are endorsing Ray Vaughn for County Commissioner.
