To the patrons of Deer Creek School District
Thank you for your consideration of me as a Deer Creek School Board
Member. We are very fortunate to live in a school district that
consistently ranks as one of the best school districts in the state.
Fortunate, yes, but also challenging. The location of our school
district along with our academic ranking has brought growth in student
population that will continue to challenge the high standards of
our district.
No longer is it good enough to consider Deer Creek a small school
district with great test scores. Our sights must be set on the future
to guarantee current and next generation students continue to receive
the best education in the state. A growing district means fewer
dollars per student are available in comparison to a non-growth
district. And yet our challenge will be to provide infrastructure
and curriculum that will continue to give our students the best
education available.
Constant growth is the future of Deer Creek Schools and we must
learn to accept and embrace that growth. We should work with property
owners and developers to ensure we have neighborhood schools more
closely located to our students. We must better plan for schools
that will accommodate our growing student population. Required and
elective curriculum must address the needs of current and future
students and better prepare them for college and life vocations.
These are the real challenges we face as a growing school district.
Your school district is in the business of education. And, as in
any business, the districts success depends on its leaders.
My experience with all types of businesses, board membership within
the construction industry and home owners, and my communications
expertise will be an asset to the school board and district. I will
bring strong leadership to the board and will insist that our administration
and faculty also provide the strong leadership and management skills
necessary for a growing district. As your board member I will focus
on long term planning for the district along with immediate improvements
that can be made with administration, faculty, and curriculum.
Please vote on February 13th, and thank you again for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Greg Biggs
