Thank you for your thoughts on Tim Draper. We are very fortunate as a district to have concerned, involved, parents who are willing to share their viewpoints and ideas in a positive fashion.
I can assure you that the number one priority of the Deer Creek administrative team and the school board is to make decisions based on what is best for the kids. By adhering to this one principle, the common good of all the kids in our school is not allowed to take a back seat to those that articulate the best or the loudest.
Almost all the correspondence I have received has been extremely positive and flattering in regards to Tim’s ability as a coach and his mentoring skills to our kids. It does indeed take a special person to be able to motivate and inspire young people in the manner that he has. (And to make the parents happy is an added bonus!)
Unfortunately, Tim has taken a private issue of personnel and allowed this to be played out in a public forum. As such, only one side of this course of events, communicated with a very positive spin, is known. By law, neither the administration or school board is allowed to openly discuss issues that apply to the employment of any of our personnel.
Realizing that this is an extremely frustrating and exasperating response to all of your e-mails, I can only reassure that all of the facts will be re-reviewed before a final decision is made.
You elected us, and yes, we work for you and your kids, to make the best determination in difficult situations such as this. Please trust us that the final outcome will be made with much due diligence and consideration of all the options available.
Thank you for your letters and support.
