Dear Deer Creek Patrons,
I am thankful that at Deer Creek we have patrons who want the best for their children. Your recent letters regarding an issue with Mr. Tim Draper show this great regard for the best teachers, coaches, and programs for the children in our district. I assure you everyone of your board members have that same concern.
In the case of school board law, a school board member can not give details about personnel issues. These are considered confidential and the law prohibits board members and administrators from discussing them publicly. These type of issues are only discussed in Executive Session in accordance with Oklahoma State Law. In many cases this makes issues very difficult for board members as the public only hears one side of the issue. The public never receives the other facts and information that are presented.
I assure you that at this time with the issue regarding Mr. Tim Draper, I as a board member will look at all the information. I will ask questions and look at the laws that govern schools pertaining to this issue. When I make a decision in this issue I must by oath of office see that it, the decision, meets the requirements of the laws of the State of Oklahoma that govern schools. My hope is that this issue can be resolved with the best interest of the children in mind while it meets the mandates of the laws of the State of Oklahoma.
Thank you again for taking the time to write me with your concerns in this matter.
Sincerely,
Jan Larsen
