Initially the school board candidates seemed like a fresh new
start. We didnt know any of them personally. It seemed that
each would bring a fresh perspective to the school board. We planned
on sitting back, watching the campaigning and election with no bias,
good or bad, towards any candidate. While we had met and talked
with each candidate individually, we only shared our opinions with
a few close friends. Each candidate shared with us their opinions
and visions for the district's future. All of the candidates were
very accommodating and candid. Only if life could be that simple.
Due to the unfortunate recent events, we feel it is time to step
in. While we respect every candidate for throwing their hat into
the ring, we feel that one candidate has distanced themselves from
the others, Gerald Buckles. We feel that he is the right candidate
for the district.
Gerald Buckles may be the one candidate that disagrees with us
the most. While he disagrees with us on many issues, he has taken
the time to listen. He has been open to ideas and flexible enough
to factor in new information. That is all anybody can ask for --
A candidate that will consider all sides of an issue before making
the decision that is best for the district. While we know we are
going to be on different sides of many issues, we are confident
that Gerald Buckles will listen to all sides with an open mind and
with no personal agenda.
Gerald Buckles extensive knowledge of construction will be
a great asset as the district continues to grow. Currently there
is no one who has a firm grasp on the subject. All one needs to
do is revisit where Rose Union stood at the start of school to understand
what a critical need we have. The school district desperately needs
an individual who can evaluate future construction projects, ensuring
that they are done efficiently and correctly.
Gerald Buckles desire to open the paths of communication
between the school board and the patrons is a breath of fresh air.
For too long the current board has done everything in their power
to put up communication roadblocks between themselves and the patrons.
While we realize one person cannot change everything, at least it
will be a step in the right direction.
The Deer Creek school district is at an important crossroad in
time. This is a critical election as the candidate elected will
go a long way toward determining if the district loses ground, stays
status quo or moves down the road to the success. We feel confident
that Gerald Buckles is the candidate to lead us down the road to
success.
No matter who you support, we urge everyone on Tuesday to please
take the time to cast your vote.
