Well, once again we received a notice in our backpacks today that DCES is having yet another fundraiser! The way I understood it is that the school board eliminated one of the two fundraisers each site was allowed to have so the PTO's agreed to pick up the extra and allowed 3.
Well, this school year alone we have had an auction combined with a family night (which actually is a sneaky way to have 2 fundraisers in one because each class put together items and teachers offered themselves for sale in various ways) plus the food etc. raised money as it was donated and then there was Bingo - that cost too. We have had 2 - yes 2 - catalog sales (one in the fall and we just finished our spring one). Finally, we are now having a carnival.
When is it going to end? Why does DCES get to do more than the other schools and they have fewer students? Or am I confused and one was covered by the PTO and the school supplies, 2 Abuelo's Nights, Abuelo's gift cards that we purchased all year, school apparel, and the Valentine's cookies don't count even though each one raised money for someone...

At the beginning of the year each school asked for a certain amount of money. Why are they still asking for money when most of them have reached their goals? Why haven’t they posted how much money they received so far and where the money went? The only school that should still need money is Rose Union for obvious reasons.
Be prepared the school board is already gearing up for spreading the word that the school district will be about $170,000 short due to the under funded teacher raise mandate. More on that tomorrow.
Do
you feel the school is responsibly managing their money?
