Parent Post
Hello again Deer Creek. I once had the pleasure of blogging my concerns about PV's Ms. Anderson last year. I am the parent of two children who attended Westwood Elementary school while she was the Principal there. I first of all want to tell you how I even know of the DC Post site, I knew she had moved to Deer Creek Schools through on of the other teacher from Westwood. I work in an office that sees a lot of people from everywhere. I ran into a person that I asked how things were going at Deer Creek and well she said it would be better if I looked at this site and well I did and that’s that.
I do want to tell you my prayers are with you all and I am sorry that you are having to go through all of this and your children too. The school now were my kids are play a lot of sports against Deer Creek and the kids there have great sportsmanship so congrats on raising good kids. I would like to say that everything that is going on right know is almost a repeat of what happened when she was at Westwood. The only difference is that Deer Creek had the higher scores before she came.
Westwood is a majority Hispanic school and a lot of the students do not even speak English it is to my understanding that even there test scores were mixed into the equation. I don't know if that is true or not, but if that is so since Michelle has left the school and the grades have gone up that is a great accomplishment for the new principle.
During testing at Westwood Michelle would make the kids do nothing but practice tests. The kids had to take the practice exams over and over until the scored high enough or they had to loose their recess until the test scores were high enough. Math and reading were about the only things taught at Westwood while she was there. The other subjects were not important. My 2 kids left Westwood not even knowing how to write in cursive, they couldn’t sign there name if they wanted too. Well they got a rude awakening when they went to Jr. High and everything was done in cursive. Enough about all of that I wish you all lots of luck and thing will work out. Like my mom use to say "it'll all come out in the wash.”
