"Falsely attacking and rumors don't happen anywhere else in society" - huh? You've got to be kidding! FYI..."media" these days is ANYONE with a computer (ever heard of YouTube?). Bob Stoops just spoke about this at his weekly news conference this past week. You may not like it but that is the way it is and it's changing all the time! What I see on the DC Post are opinions, some of which may be rumor; I don't take it all at face value. You have to be responsible for checking these things out yourself, forming your OWN opinions and experiences! If this "DC Parent" finds this site so rumor-filled and full of false info, I wonder why they are here reading it, let alone taking the time to respond? Hmmmmmmm...

Nice spin, I have to give you credit. The issue was board members showing favoritism to their own children. Not the other instances you mentioned. You sited one instance that related to the topic. (Forcing their child into a pilot study program). Are you sure that showed favoritism (if that even happened)? I bet their aren't many parents who would volunteer their child in a "pilot study". Your other 3 points were totally off topic but you spun the post nicely to further your agenda. Thanks for making my point. DC Parent

You asked for examples of favoritism and that is what we gave you. Not Spin, just answers to your question. FYI...all these instances are document. Just check with written correspondence and school board records. You might want to reread your post. But any way if you think that was a spin you are going to love this one.
Tim Draper's teaching certificate was reinstated yesterday by the State School Board. The State School Board stated that the Deer Creek’s system for tracking CE’s was not in compliance. We wonder who is responsible to make sure the school’s procedures are in compliance. The school board, the school administration, the HR director? Tim Draper's Lawyer also questioned why when they asked the school district to provide the information related to Tim Draper’s case in the past the school district could not deliver it until yesterday.
So now we are waiting for you to justify to us why Tim Draper should have been fired in the first place. This is your chance to come forward with the facts. Or now that the State School Board has ruled in favor of Tim Draper and publicly reprimanded Deer Creek you might finally realize what is happening in our district.
But of course you won’t address any of the issues you will just keep attacking people who question the school board and/or administration. By the way, if you think you are swaying people to believe in the school board you are not accomplishing your task. What you are accomplishing is becoming the ‘poster child’ for what is wrong in this district. If everybody was to bury their head in the sand like you do, I feel sorry for the parents and students in ten years or so when the full affect of an inadequate school board and administration decisions will be truly felt. It will be 10 times worse then what we are going through today.

In response to DC board members showing favoritism, can you site an instance or is this just another false allegation? It seems you made this statement to further your own agenda. Show us the facts. Enough with the rumors, enough with the unsubstantiated allegations. As I've said before, welcome to the spin zone-DC Post. The media has a responsibility to curtail rumors and allegations. Like it or not this website is media. This website does a poor job letting people falsely attack and post rumors. It doesn't happen anywhere else in society. Letters to the editor with any reputable publication and even the school (University) newspaper don't allow this. (Whatever "our reply" will be will solidify the fact that this is not a reputable media source. Don't come here for the facts, come here for the rumors. DC Parent

Media has the responsibility to curtail rumors and allegations? Have you not watched or read a newspaper recently?
Below are some instances of certain school board members/administration showing favoritism. If you look you will find they are factual. But then again if you don’t take your blinders off you may never see what is happening right before your eyes. Then again, maybe that is all you want to see.
- Board member requires their child to participate in Pilot Program that they are funding.
- One Principal allowed to send their kids to a different school then the one they run vs. another who was not allowed to do so.
- School Board candidate denied participation at school event but another candidate is not.
- School Board allows political function to be held at school but denies another group from holding a political event.
- School Board member openly promotes a political candidate after voting against the school becoming involved in the political process.
We can go on and on. Just imagine all the things we don’t know about. Let us know how all these allegations are false and we will be glad to post the facts.

In response to DC in Crisis, You are so right about voting in new board members. We have some, not all, that have rules for our kids, but the same don't apply to their own... that would be a "double standard" and not good practice for any school board members. I know I won't have any problem voting in the next election for someone who will put all the students best interests first. DC Parent

To the parent fearful of retaliation, you have good reason to have that fear. Retaliation that occurs in activities and athletics are very real and very hard to prove. This school has ways of making things happen the way they want and it is impossible to prove. The key at this time is a new school board member. The next key is another new one next year. And so on. Make your voice heard by your vote. Get out and campaign for a candidate who wants to better the system and doesn't see the way things are as a good thing. I promise that candidate will be there when the filing happens in December. I know him personally and he will make a big difference at Deer Creek. Seek change through the power of your vote. Tell that Board that status quo will not longer work for you or your child!

No fear mentioned in my post - just wondering; asking for advice on how to make change happen without there being repercussions. I have indeed made myself heard at my children's school and do not teach my children to be "afraid." It is a legitimate concern.

To the parent fearing retaliation from the school. Is this the kind of school you wish to send your child to? One that you are fearful of? Stand up and make yourself heard. If you are not heard, stand up again and speak louder. This is not about being popular, it's about your children's future. Teach your children not to hide in fear but to stand up for what is right!

I also whole-heartedly agree but wonder how exactly to go about making this happen without my children or my family facing retaliation at school? The whole situation out here seems to be getting worse and worse; we are paying sky high property taxes to send our children to these schools. Something's gotta give!

In response to "Deer Creek Schools in Crisis"...I couldn't agree more. We as parents need to become involved and see that these changes are made...we have to demand that these changes are made! A good start would be a new School Board! One that will listen and look after the best interest of our children at every level.

I read in today’s Oklahoman that our school board ask the administration to prepare a "plan" for future expansion needs for our school district. Where have these people been for the last ten years? This type of document should have been done years ago. I realize that money can not be expended until voted on and is available, but a plan is needed long in advance. Maybe, they did not realize we were growing. Enough griping. It is time we change this board into a visionary body. We are years behind in planning. Band-aids on daily problems will not work unless they fit into a master plan that includes physical plant, academics, athletics, IT, etc. I believe Deer Creek is in a crises situation. Patrons, including myself, need to get more involved before we get further behind.
