In regards to "School Building out of Sync", my answer is yes and no.
Yes, they have been under rock.(But actually they have not really crawled out yet.)
And no, they do not get it. Their lame attempt at "looking" like they are trying to attack the issue of not having a "plan" is just in time for a school board election. They don't have a plan and with someone like Vrooman in charge of operations, a plan will never come into being. We have no one in administration with a business background and that is so desperately needed.
Yes. They will build another elementary school based upon a model that is too small. It will open (late I\'m sure) and will be overcrowded with mold growing in those trashy portables that will be added at the last minute. If they don't add portables, then plan on some of the children being taught in utility closets. Yes, this will all happen unless you stop them.
It is time for change people. This district is at least 8-10 years behind and these people on this board and in administration have done nothing to begin to solve the big problems. Replacing board members with intelligent, business minded people is critical. As they come up for election, look at what they have accomplished (and not accomplished) and decide if that is enough for you and your children.
Denton has had 5 years and I see nothing but spineless rubber stamping of administration-based, poor decisions. We need board members who have a business background and can ask the tough questions to make smart decisions. Your children's future is at stake. Look at the performance and record ... and then replace them!

If you got a copy of Tuesday Oklahoman they had in the My Edmond section a story about how the administration and Dick Vrooman are finally getting the fact that Deer Creek schools are growing at a fast rate. What rock have they been under? Tell me they are not just now "getting it". It mentions in the article that a 4th elementary is going to be built in The Grove. That is great. Are they going to build it so that it won't be overcrowded on the 1st day of school? I am sure they are going to go ahead and build the same small school like Rose Union. Maybe on the 1st day of school we will have some rough looking portables sitting beside it.
