Parent Post 1:
I asked my son about this last night...he said that some of the bathrooms are locked up, but that finding one to use is not a problem.
Parent Post 2: Good for Toni Jones for dealing directly with this situation. Really, why don't people contact the school if they have a question? THESE are the people who WILL talk to you! It is ridiculous that people don't communicate with those that they entrust their kids to all day.
I appreciate the communication Principal Jones has with parents, each and every week with a schedule of upcoming events, various reminders, etc. Principal Riggs has begun doing the same and it is great! We, as parents, could at least have the courtesy and intelligence to go directly to the source on these kinds of things. Geeesh!
Our Reply: We agree that you should start by contacting the school directly first to find out what is going on. That is what we suggested to the original post.
With that said we also understand why some people would be apprehensive in contacting the school due to past history. We also understand individuals going to extremes because they have little to no faith that the school district is going to handle things the correct way.
Does this mean we believe the teachers and staff won’t do the right things? No it means that the teacher and staff may be ordered to do things that are not correct. Just look at the post sent in by an employee in regards to Dick Vrooman.

Update - Toni Jones Email
sent March 11, 2008 Dear Parents,
It was brought to my attention that the rumor mill is flying fast in regards to the DCMS restroom situation for the boys. Over the past week we have experienced a few boys who have stuffed paper towels in the restrooms toilets which rendered them unusable. We had one day (before the student was caught) where the students clogged all three of the restrooms in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade halls. The plumber was here 9 times within a 24 hour period. However, at no time were the boys without restrooms. The locker room restrooms, the lobby restrooms, and the clinic restroom in the office were open at all times. There have, and will always be, restrooms open to the students. Every World View Wednesday addressed the issue last week with all of the boys so that they are fully aware of the situation and that they must use another restroom if the one they are accustomed to using is being repaired. Generally, our kids make great choices at DCMS. It is sad that it only takes one or two students in order to cause a disruption for the other 750. Thanks to our great students they did report one of the offenders to us and we have been able to take action. Thanks again to those parents who took the time to e-mail or call me directly so that we could have the opportunity to explain in a factual manner. We appreciate you!
Toni Jones, Principal
Parent Post: Come on, folks. Do you HONESTLY think we middle school teachers would make a student go all day long without being able to use the restroom? Students are allowed to use the clinic restroom in the office when the others are locked for cleaning/repair. Use some common sense, and don't believe everything you hear.

Parent Post: My son came home from the MS today and informed us that all of the boys’ bathrooms (except in 6th grade hall) are being locked all day long. Apparently, some child has been stuffing toilet paper down one of the stalls and causing it to overflow. So now, every 7th and 8th grade boy can not go to the bathroom all day long? Their teachers won't allow them passes to go to the 6th grade hall and they don't have time to go all the way there and back between classes. Shouldn't this violate a health code or something? Does the principal go ALL DAY LONG without going to the bathroom? Isn't there a horrible stomach flu floating around? I find this unreasonable! I am sincerely hoping that my child has the story wrong somehow!
Our Reply: We would recommend calling the Middle School and ask what is going on. Let us know what you find out.
