I know what it seems like when you only hear half-truths and rumors. If you want to know what is really going on in this district - ASK THE RIGHT PEOPLE - THOSE OF US WHO MAKE UP THE DISTRICT! I know about my kids and what goes on in their schools because of talking to my kids. I know about issues at the school buildings because of my job. I know about Dick Vrooman because I work with him.
Dick and the people who work in our department average 3 people short of what we need. We have the highest turnover rate because of the pay, the way that we get treated, and the fact that we all work at least two jobs with no over- time - all at a salary that is hard to live on.
Dick has done his best with having no money and not enough or not qualified staff. He gets griped at every day by other employees in our district. He gets the finger pointed at him for everything. He is actually the one who is finally turning things around by being an honest and hard working guy.
We already don't have enough staff and several have said they'll leave if he does. I cannot say who I am for fear I will lose my job. If you work in the district like me; you know what I mean. You can't make the "big boss" mad! I can promise you that every thing that has been done in our departments was because our boss, the Superintendent told us to.
Instead of continuing to gripe about what we don't get done; we would like to feel appreciated for what we do. Teachers get mad for having to work over the lunch break. We all drive a bus, work all day, drive a bus and work some more because we have to - we are short handed. Still, we make less money, work a lot more hours, don't get help from any parents, never get a pto to appreciate us, no holiday gifts or parties, or anything - and you still gripe at us.
When are you going to figure out that every fundraiser you have gives us more work, every field trip affects us, every after school activity causes more work for us - and we don't get paid for any of the "extras". We are all working - for our district - for our children. Try being thankful for a change!

this is in response to the comments made about Dick Vrooman,
just so people get the whole picture Dick is the person who gets up before most people even think about it on a icy or snowy day and drives the school bus routs and makes sure the road is free of ice and informs the county of sand and salt needed so your children don’t die! Dick also helps in driving a bus in the most safest manner so your children don’t die!
Dick has by far been the best employer I have ever worked for! He has always made sure the children (which he calls his kids) are of his first concern. He has worked with the with the limited funds and labor force that is given him. He is one of the only MEN I have met that can smile when he is being "thrown under the bus" and still want to come back to work and push forward in a positive direction!
This comment is for the people who are afraid of putting their name to their belief, my name is DWIGHT F. DEAN and I am one of the 3 people who left the support services group, and I did not leave due to the work environment, it was the pay and the LACK of benefits, Deer Creek is a great place to work, it is too bad that the narrow-minded views of some are put to paper on this site for their own personal gain, I'm glad I didn’t know about this site before coming to Deer Creek!!!! It would have made a difference. If your not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!! Back-stabbing is NOT the answer. To the people trying to make a place for my son to get a GREAT, education thank you(prairie vale and all the schools) for the people trying to road block his future, move-on!!!!
thank you all
Dwight
Our Reply: Dwight thanks for the post and shedding light on the other things Dick Vrooman does that most of us don’t see. Anybody who knows Dick knows how much he cares for the kids and all that he does for the kids. But unfortunately Dwight, some of us have dealt with Dick and have seen his other side too.
